ChooseDay Tuesday
Having visited Brooklyn Brothers, Cornubia before, Yuven was a bit sceptical about returning after their lack of almost every beer we had previously ordered. But as clichéd as it sounds, everyone deserves a second chance, so with a quiet feeling of hope we trooped in.
The inside was warm and inviting, and although it is a family restaurant (meaning kids generally everywhere) it was really quite tidy with a wash basin for clean-freaks or messy eaters. Despite having a “ChooseDay Special” though, the restaurant seemed to house more staff than diners, which was great for us because we got to choose our own seats, and we knew that the service would be much more efficient. And efficient it was – Our waitress was terrific! She afforded us just enough time to decide on our meals and made helpful suggestions for when we were at a loss.
We descended upon their “ChooseDay Special” allowing us to order any two burgers on the menu (excluding the Colossal Burger), and the cheaper one would be on them. I like my burgers simple so I pounced on the “Cheeseanator”, and Yuven “The Tennessee”. Our fab waitress saved us a lot of hassle by reminding us that “The Tennessee” contained blue cheese, and if we weren’t too keen on it we could replace it with cheddar, which we did. When it came to ordering drinks, their menu was doused in a variety of craft beers that we were unfamiliar with, and although out waitress knew zilch about the alcohol contents thereof, she redeemed herself by offering Yuven a sample. And within 2 minutes our drinks order was complete.

Our beef burgers arrived before you could say “Moo!”, and despite looking quite dainty in size, they were quite satisfying! Both patties were thick, juicy, and delectable with garden-fresh lettuce. The “Cheeseanator” ran short on cheese, but their Brother’s Burger Mayo was flavoursome. “The Tennessee” contained just enough bacon for a salty kick, however, we neither smelt nor tasted any sign of the patty being basted in Jack Daniels. Our complaints would be that the burgers were a bit oily and the exclusion of a side order is rather disappointing. But our separate side order of fries were yum to say the least.

Yuven’s Brother’s Lager by Redrock was crisp and clean-tasting, served ice, and my Belgian hot chocolate was perfect for a winter’s night. Not the usual hot milk and cocoa texture, but frothy and heavenly with the smell of chocolate pervading the air. Our waitress also saw no harm in reheating my drink after a while.
After our second visit to Brooklyn Brothers, we would suggest their commendable service and fuss-free food to:
- A family with kids who love milkshakes and burgers
- Couples looking for cosy food
- Someone in search of a selection of craft beer and grub
But as usual that’s just in my opinion 🙂
