Robsons Real Beer

Beer makes everything better!

What’s better than a beer tour and tasting for a beer lover’s birthday?

When you eventually manage to locate Robsons, the outside is a bit deceiving – It looks just like a regular restaurant. Walking in, however, opens you up to a completely remarkable experience – Rustic and enticing.

Our tour was scheduled for 11am, and since we were a tad bit early we managed to sneak a cursory look around. The setting of the restaurant managed to market itself – Displayed bottles of beer, kegs, wooden furniture, and steel frameworks.

The head brewer, Brian, a lively old-timer, gave us the most marvellous experience in just 2 hours for R100 per person! From the insightful history of beer, to the assorted types available to us (lager, ale, stout), a tasting of the ingredients (all types of barley), and finally savouring the end product! Indian Pale Ale, West Coast Ale, Hammer of Thor (The strongest!) to name but a few. Our curious questions were happily welcomed with the most fascinating explanations.

Despite not dining at Robsons, and without giving too much of the phenomenal experience away, we would suggest Robsons to everyone, but more especially to extreme beer lovers or “enthusiasts” craving more, but that’s just in my opinion 🙂
