Adios, El Toro

Ay Caramba!

Finally the taste of Mexican food! Or so we thought…

As frequent restaurant visitors, we’ve grown accustomed to on-the-ball service and pleasant experiences, which inevitably leads us in search of new places to rave about. And that’s how we ended up at El Toro in Durban North.

From the outside it looked welcoming enough, so we rushed in already prepared to tackle tacos for the first time. Our waitress appeared friendly enough, and when we asked about the meals she seemed clued up and didn’t stray too far.

And that’s how we ended up our “shredded chicken” tacos. Or if you would rather call them “vegetable spring rolls” after taking a bite. Our waitress also brought along a bowl of something red and spicy-looking which we thought we would sprinkle on our food to give it some zing! Until we took a closer look! Not one, but two small curls of hair waiting to dive into the spicy mixture as soon as we averted our eyes. That’s when our gag reflexes tried sending the tacos in reverse up our throats.

Needless to say, El Toro won’t be seeing us anyw’hair’ near them again. However, if you aren’t too picky with hygiene and are just after a quick bite then El Toro is the place to go, but that’s just in my opinion 🙂
